5ft Christmas trees
26 trees at 5ft (150cm), from £29.99 to £630. A 5ft tree stands clear of a 2.1m ceiling with a topper on, suits a flat or a smaller living room, and is the easiest full tree to carry and store. Twelve of these are pre-lit, with 64 to 1,000 LEDs.
Who a 5ft tree suits
Five feet is the size for rooms where a 6ft tree would crowd the seating, for a dining room or a hall, or for a second tree upstairs. On a low stand it sits at eye level when you are seated, so the top third gets seen more than on a tall tree, which is worth remembering when you place the best decorations.
What is in the range
Unlit pines and firs with pinecones and berries, the New Jersey spruce in potted and pre-lit versions, a frosted Belvedere pine, a frosted fibre optic half tree for a wall, a slim Alpine pine, and pre-lit trees from 190 to 300 LEDs. Tip counts run from 260 on the slim tree to 738 on the fullest, and most of the range is made by Festive. Fourteen trees are rated for indoor and outdoor use.
Lights and decorations for a 5ft tree
If the tree is unlit, 500 LEDs gives medium coverage and 250 a sparse one. Fifty to seventy baubles at 6 to 8cm fills a 5ft tree without crowding it. A 40 to 45cm skirt or ring covers the stand.
Common questions
Will a 5ft tree fit under a 2.1m ceiling?
Yes. 5ft is 150cm, which leaves about 60cm for the stand height and a topper. It also fits a 2.4m room with space to spare.
How many baubles for a 5ft tree?
50 to 75 baubles for a full look, using the rule of 10 to 15 per foot. Use 6 to 8cm baubles as the main size and a few larger ones low down.
Is 5ft too small for a living room?
Not for a smaller room or a flat. In a large room with a 2.4m ceiling a 6ft or 7ft tree fills the space better; the difference is width as much as height.
