Measure before you buy
Seven feet is 213cm before the stand and the topper. Allow 15 to 30cm above the tree, so you want a ceiling of 2.4m at the very least and 2.5m to be comfortable. The spread is 120 to 150cm on a standard shape, so check the floor space as well as the height. If the ceiling is 2.4m and you still want presence, a 6ft tree with a high tip count is the better buy.
The trees
Every tree here has at least 900 tips and the fullest, the Deluxe Grays Peak flocked pine, has 2,702. Unlit trees include the Ben Nevis pine with pinecones and berries, the Grand River pine with frosted cones, the Frosted Belvedere, the Snowy Mountain pine, the New Jersey spruce and the Midnight Blue fir. Pre-lit trees run from the 230 LED pop-up tree to the Grampian pine with 680 warm white LEDs and the Cedar Ridge fir with 450 colour-changing LEDs. Eighteen are made by Festive, six by Premier and three by Snow Time.
Lights and baubles for a 7ft tree
700 LEDs for medium coverage on an unlit tree, 350 for sparse and 1,050 for dense. Plan on 80 to 100 baubles for a full look, with 9 to 12cm pieces on the lower third and 6 to 8cm higher up.
Common questions
Will a 7ft tree fit a 2.4m ceiling?
It is tight. The tree is 213cm, the stand adds a few centimetres and a topper needs 15 to 30cm, so you would have no clearance. A 2.5m ceiling suits a 7ft tree; for 2.4m choose a 6ft or 6.5ft tree.
How many lights for a 7ft tree?
700 LEDs for medium coverage. Pre-lit 7ft trees in this range carry 230 to 680 LEDs built in.
How many baubles for a 7ft tree?
80 to 100 for a medium look and up to 140 for a heavily decorated tree, using the rule of 10 to 15 baubles per foot.
